Soul Trade (Re-written *2017)

Don't worry about the devil, I'll trade my soul for your place.
Then you'll be free from a fate you don't deserve,
And always feel the sunrise warm your wings and face.
Don't argue with me, it won't change a thing I've said.
Yes, I know what waits in those pits, in his kingdom:
Everything I am will be stripped away; incinerated,
And from the ashes, he'll raise a creature of death.
To serve him for eternity.
Now go, fly away and save your breath,
For what death he chooses for me will haunt your days!

Years Later

My soul was taken into Hell, in a what way I'll spare your heart.
The tales we heard young weren't tales, but living nightmares
The hierarchy is unholy, decadent, and sadistic in all courts.
I've suffered, but with peace, knowing you're freedom was guaranteed.
My wings were shorn and regrown;
As a taboo of serpent and bird, with a burning, blackened metallic sheen.
Punishments are inflicted on nobility and slave by little reason or madness
Sent into war is no better, for I must fight those with the grace I lost;
And yes, the rumors are true: I killed many a warrior and innocent.
That being said, however, compares little to what I say now.
I know when you weep the universe drowns itself in pain
And the seasons hold bitter loneliness because of my decision.
But I need you to open your heart and remember;
Though I fly by shadow and you by heavenly light,
My love hasn't dimmed, only held higher, grown stronger.
And someday, we'll meet again on the battlefield or wasteland.
Where the world will be fraught with fire and ice,
But we will know peace together at the end of all days.
