A Child's Smile

The simpleness of your smile fades

When you see the mask upon the face

Of someone who cares for you.

As a child, you can't see the life around

And understand what the world is going through

Because of your youth.

Right now, tensions are burning high.

People are fighting and dying

From disease and a man's death.

It's everywhere, but you still see with a lens

That's untouched by adult perceptions.

 -Innocent and joyful is your little heart. 

But, the years will slip through your pudgy hands

And then you'll learn and understand

That sometimes there aren't easy choices made

When living as an adult.
